Iâ??m the sarcastic laid back kind of guy. Unlike 95% of the profiles I read on here I am not a polyamorous vegan that rides a Schwinn everywhere I go while listening only to local bands. I donâ??t even own a Schwinn right now, not that I would be against owning one in the future. I still see the value in an automobile.

I recently graduated in illustration, though I presently work in a sign shop. Iâ??ve also started to do some freelance graphic design work over the past couple years. As I establish myself in the artistic community, I wouldnâ??t mind doing volunteer work at artistic events/ causes. So if you know of anything peachy, let me know.

My imagination does still tend to run wild. Iâ??m getting more and more into studying astrophysics and spirituality. Attempting to figure out how I can relate that to my work and life in general.

Some of my favorite things to do include painting, drawing, going to concerts, discovering new places that serve sesame chicken, playing Punch-Out on the Wii, going to Wild games, wandering around Museums and just wandering around looking for peachy things in general.

I am an honest liar. That is to say, I will tell you upfront that I'm a liar. Everything I say afterwards might be circumspect. Keep that in mind. I'd like to think that I'm an honest liar to be a counterbalance to all the pro-honesty propaganda out there. Really, though, it's because the life I make up in my head is much more fun to talk about.

Not that my real life is boring. I just think it lacks editorial control.

I used to live in South Bend, IN. Due to a fortunate set of circumstances concerning a piece of teak, a Geo Storm, and long years of filial animosity, I'm now living in South Minneapolis. With two roommates, one of whom physically abuses me with jointy pain, and the other of whom I've been stalking slowly over the course of five years, completely without my knowledge.

I read voraciously. I mean, I'll settle for the back of a pack of peanuts if I have to, just to have something to read.

I believe that everybody ought to be free to be stupid, that religion is an, admittedly high, art form, and that anybody who opens their eyes for a few minutes could see that the whole damned world is far, far too pretty to concern yourself about the trivial things.

On the other hand, I think it's social acceptable to tell somebody, "Sorry, I've absorbed my Daily Recommended Allowance of crazy. Please go talk to somebody else."

Its Funny how life takes us full circle...I lost you...but only for a short time...Only to be found again. I knew you in another life, and will know of you again in the next. I like to think of myself as a living set of contradictions. I've been around the block a few times, but still have an aura of innocence and naivete that people find charming - for a while, at least. Well, I like to think that I'm a pretty ordinary guy. I've just graduated from college and now have a fancy piece of paper the certifies how smart I am. I can be very optimistic, and also very cynical. I really do not believe that I am easily placed into any stereotypical category, and try to cultivate an interest in a wide variety of areas.

I really enjoy a great many things. I've always been very interested in and appreciative of art, though I'm not very good at it myself. I love writing, and wish I had a bit longer of an attention span so that I could actually commit to finishing one of the many stories I've begun over the years. I did extemp. speech in high school, and thought that was pretty fun, and as a result don't really have any fear of public speaking, and I'm always down for a friendly debate. I also had some classical voice training during high school, although I haven't kept up with it much these past few years (I'd like to get back in to singing though). The last few years I've been taking a lot of science courses in preparation for the MCAT. I've really come to love science (as long as it doesn't require me to do much calculus level math), with biology/medicine probably being my favorites (next to psychology, of course).

I like to think of myself as being a very empathetic person, sometimes even too empathetic for my own good. Despite my award of being "less compassionate" I tend to go out of my way to help people out if I'm able. If you're close to me I will go above and beyond in supporting and assisting you in whatever way you need. I think honesty is very important, but I also understand and respect the role of privacy in every person's life. Total and complete honesty is a nice ideal, but may be a little unrealistic. White lies are bound to occur now and then, and there will always be some items that one would rather keep private. Those big lies? I don't understand why people bother with them, to be honest. Way too much effort goes in to coming up with the lie, remembering which lie you told to who, and keeping the lie going to make it practical (much less ethical). It all seems like it would be very stressful.

Above all, I hope to always keep learning, and to never stop improving myself. There is too much brilliance and wonder in this world to ever have an excuse to be bored, or to ever go a single day without learning at least 1 new thing.

I was born in California, raised in Colorado, but have now spent ten winters in Minnesota. I maintain that counting winters should be the only measure of time here. What to say....I love my friends and family,they are the most important things in my life. I like making friends before anything else. It seems that doing it the other way around leads to disaster. No really, don't make me have to smack a bitch. I have given up the big dream that life will all work out to be happily ever after no matter what romantic concept you subscribe to. I'm a very strong Myers-Briggs ENFP (Champion / Advocate). Supposedly we are only about 2% - 3% of the population, so I'm a special snowflake. Or something. I'm a great idea person, but I suck at follow through. We are supposedly assertive (nickname: Despot), life-loving (at times), charismatic (duh), passionate (see zodiac sign), experimental (I'll try anything twice) and upbeat (can't win em all). I obviously fail at the upbeat sometimes, but the rest are pretty spot on. Oddly enough no matter how strong the E is in me, I still am seriously shy around new people or in large groups.

I am a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. If the world worked the way I wished it did, I'd be a socialist, but I'm a realist and don't have that much faith in humanity. I'm strongly Libertarian according to the Political Compass. Politics are something I avoid wasting too much time on lately, as school is already stressful enough.

I like to exercise. I enjoy swimming laps in Lake Nokomis in the warm weather. I enjoy touring (bike camping), the outdoors. I work for a local animal protection group that I co-founded, and that's really important to me. I'm very passionate about animal protection, but I'm also grounded. I have a big extended family in the Cities that I love. I know a lot of people and have lots of friends, but I love to meet more and make stronger connections. I'm outgoing and friendly in smaller groups or one-on-one.

I am a mess of contradictions is the easiest way to sum me up. I love metal and hard rock. I'll wear my grungiest clothes and go into a mosh pit, in fact I have on several occasions. But the next week I'll put on a some what formal dress and go the Opera where I often times tear up if it's a good one. I love spicy powerful flavor combinations but also love a good subtle mix of flavors. In public I'm well-behaved, polite, and don't swear much, the kind of girl you would take home to meet the family. In bed, not so much, but you get the idea, lol. I love history, culture and learning about new things and people. I feel the best way to do that is through their food. I can sing along with the Mothra song, which my son loves, lol. I know all the words to On a Boat, which will never come in handy but it's a good song none the less. I think Vermillion by Slipknot is a really good romantic song. Oh, I can also tell you how to use a Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, because that's what every one should know.

Friends would say that I am kind, funny, and geeky. I am quiet and usually is not the life of the party. I have the oddest thought on my mind sometimes.

I like Anime, Golf, and Video Games. Not limited to just those, but there are way too many things I could invest my time/money/energy into. Perhaps YOU are the one for whom I can focus on.

I am outgoing and fun to be around. I make friends quickly and love to make people laugh. I have dry warped sense of humor. I enjoy movies, walks, boating, camping, fishing,ect. Hey! I love dancing and potobello mushrooms - mmm-and the movie Amalie. All true! I enjoy lots of music, especially Dave Matthews Band, Coldplay, U2, lots of world music, afro-carribbean, salsa, samba, anything with a beat you can dance to! I am a drummer professionally and in my fantasies, but I make a living from the law. I fought it but the law won. Three grown kids, one in Africa, one in India, and one in Chicago. I travel a bit, I refinished a mahogany runabout boat I like to use for water skiiing and tubing. I downhill ski in the winter, especially when I can go to the mountains, and also swim surrounded by snow then warmed by a fire and a good hot coffee drink! Otherwise I'm a normal sports and movies fanatic, not a couch potato!

As the name implies, I am new to Minneapolis. I moved here about two years ago from Milwaukee, WI...so far, it's definitely been for the better! I'm a self-confessed geek, I dig graphic novels and the show Heroes like nobody's business. I'm half-tomboy, half-princess, but I think I do each when appropriate. At least, I hope so. *shrugs*

I used to have this really long thing on here, and well... it was really kinda dumb.

So here I am, I'm me, and at times I tend to find myself generally awesome. maybe you'll agree?

Also, I really hate punctuation that may, or may not involve the 'shift' key. But because this is a dating site, I have chosen to override this hatred.

I'm here because the odds of stumbling organically upon someone with my particular caliber of freak are pretty low, and this statistic has held out predictably over the past few years.

Lemme throw out some labels: I'm a libertarian socialist, a progressive feminist with one foot in the gender-bending theoretical milieu, a queer, an agnostic, a lifelong unschooler (first grade was the last year my soul belonged to the public school system until my recent short-lived teaching career, but that's another story), a liberal arts graduate, a jack of all trades, a Texan, a straight-edger (who has a glass of local/organic wine on occasion), a freegan, a couch-surfer, an unapologetic omnivore, an environmentalist, a pianist/composer, a writer, a reader, a nerd, a stickler for proper spelling/punctuation.

Many of these labels are mutually exclusive, it seems; there's always somebody I'm rubbing the wrong way. Hard to find other nonreligious queers who don't smoke anything, hard to find feminist environmentalists who want to make Texas home. You get the idea.

I am nerdy and geeky, and in keeping with stereotypes I am also somewhat introverted (though OKCupid's personality predictor would evidently beg to differ). I work in a profession where I wear a labcoat and understand how to interpret hazard symbols. I'm not quite a mad scientist, yet - the lab I work in is a little too corporate to be making with the diabolical concoctions - but I like to let friends believe that I am. When I'm not working, I enjoy taking classes, birding, hiking, kayaking, dancing, playing Scrabble and other boardgames, reading, baking, and watching roller derby. I also do a few volunteer gigs - this fall I volunteered at a Hawk Observatory in Duluth, I volunteer at a parrot rescue, and I am actively involved with Jewish Community Action - a group that does community organizing around various social justice issues. I have a pair of lovebirds and a quaker parrot. The quaker parrot does talk, but only when *she* feels like it. She knows how to meow, how to quack, and how to say her favorite food (Noodles!) and a few other choice words and phrases.
